Salut!
First of all, i'd like to introduce myself- my name is Eliza and I'm a Pole, a 22-years-old-student. Unfortunately, I can't speak (apart from few words) and write French at all, but adore Your language, culture, music (Edith Piaf is one of my 'top of the pops'). To read Your letters on this forum I'm using french-english translator . So I write in English, but I'm still learning this leanguage, so, please, have mercy on my grammar blunders But that's not the point of my letter.
Once , while surfing the web, I noticed Your forum. Just imagine, how surprised I was, when found, that there is a website tributed to Cardinal de Richelieu. Just like You, I admire Him and French history of XVII century (actually Polish too). Due to this fascination I decided to create the website about the 'musketeers' (it means: films-an adaptations of Alexander Dumas' novels, history, I hope it'll involve everything...soon). Let me show You its' polish version, however it's been still built, -->
http://republika.pl/muszkieterowie .
And I'd like to ask for a permittion to use the photos from Your forum to my website. I'm especially fond of the Cardinal's manuscripts, which I saw first time in my life .
I must admit, that in POland there is only few books about Cardinal de Richelieu (one biography- but excellent, and couple books about Luis XIV and His age, some memuaries, most of them are translated from French; Mme de Motteville's, Cardinal de Retz's, Saint- Simon's), so I do envy You this hundreds works about every detail. On the other hand, there is so many mysteries, which are still undiscovered (just to mention- The Man in the Iron Mask),and it's exciting, don't You think?.
Couple days ago I went on a trip to Paris. It was my hidden dream to visit all these places, which are so dear to me because of Cardinal's appearance there ages ago. Actually, we spent only 3 days in Paris, so it didn't satisfy me at all, Paris is worth to stay in at least a month. I didn't see The Sorbonne Chapel with the Girardon's sculpture neither the Palais Royal or the Palais Luxembourg inside (however I must admit, that this building and its gardens are impressive). I fell in love with Your capital and intend to visit it next year, but this time with group of friends to see the most precious monuments. And I have another request- have You got any photos of these or other places connected with Cardinal?
I read, that there is a brand new film 'D'Artagnan et les trois musquetaires' with Tcheky Karyo as the Cardinal. How do You find his performance? I've seen few films and only one was for me good (no, it was georgeus!)- I mean this directed by R. Lester with Charlton Heston, Michael York etc. Other are too bad to mention them, aren't they?
Let me finish my little letter with "a bientôt!" (am I correct?)
Yours
Eliza alias lady de Winter
